Projects

In September 2017, just in time for her feast-day on 17 September, Sony released a 9-CD deluxe box set containing the complete Sequentia recordings of Hildegard von Bingen's musical works, the Symphonia and the drama Ordo Virtutum, together with all the booklets from the original CDs.

In the mid-1980's, Benjamin Bagby began his work on the reconstruction of the Beowulf epic, and since then he has been deeply involved with those European musical repertoires which have literally 'vanished', for which the surviving manuscripts do not provide enough information for a reliable transcription.

Benjamin Bagby's reconstruction of a scop's performance of the Beowulf epic opened the gate for the entire 'Lost Songs Project' which was to become so important in the decades to come. He developed the working model in the mid-1980's, from which all other projects were to be based.

In the mid-1980's, Sequentia began to undertake large-scale projects involving an ensemble of 3-9 men's voices, directed by Benjamin Bagby, for the performance of chant, music drama, liturgical polyphony and monophonic sacred repertoires.
